USU SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM
PI KAPPA NATIONAL
COMPREHENSIVE TOURNAMENT
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA
March 2010
“The Utah State Speech and Debate team took first place in the nation
in debate this past weekend at the Pi Kappa Delta National
Comprehensive Tournament held in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
As six time conference champions, the USU team has
competed successfully in the Northwest Forensic Conference.
However, this was the first time the team competed in the
national championship tournament. There were fifty-seven
universities from across the United States at the tournament
with over 1200 entries in speech and over 200 debaters at the
tournament. In addition to taking first place in debate sweepstakes,
combining debate and speech, USU's team took 8th place in overall
sweepstakes. With eleven students from USU at the competition,
every student was recognized for individual excellence."
